Classroom Discussion!

By now many of you have probably read PZ’s post regarding the commenter’s personal information. With that in mind, I would like to add my own two cents on the subject.

I have been reading through the comments like any Pharyngulite should, and I noticed quite an uproar. Some people praised us. Some people scolded us. Some people lol’d. Personally, I favor only the last response. It would seem a few people made some rather hasty assumptions about myself and my fellow classmates.

Since I cannot speak on behalf of my peers, I shall only speak for myself. I am not evil. I would not post someone’s personal information on /b/ regardless of how “mean” they were. (We certainly joked about it though.) I am not a delicate snowflake. I enjoy each and every comment that I receive. I truly do! I seek neither your praise nor your scorn, but I will humbly accept both. If you feel my posts are complete garbage be sure to tell me. If you like them enough to recommend me to a med. school, by all means go for it!

As for our discussion in class, we reviewed our assignment. That’s all. Our assignment was to write a science blog. We encountered a problem with our assignment and brought it to the attention of our professor. He brought it to your attention. Now… the bit about the personal information may seem a bit extreme, but I assure you it was entirely in jest. There was never a viable threat of 4chan (/b/ is not your personal army). Besides, anyone who has ever lurked should know better.

Oh look a kitty! I hope this may be some form of restitution for any unintentional tone this post may have portrayed. I enjoy my viewers and would in no way, shape, or form want to dissuade you from visiting. On a parting note, I would like to thank everyone for their comments. I will address them as soon as I get the time.

Thanks for the update. I don’t know how a random picture of a kitten makes everything feel better, but it does. And I don’t even like cats.

(Yes I did wander over from Pharyngula.) I’ll be checking in partly to read and learn. Partly to add to your view stats. It’s your blog and you can do whatever you want with it, except for whatever purpose your Professor has you keeping this particular blog for. You are blogging for you, and while you may wish for input from time to time it is your blog. I found the “classroom discussion” amusing.

    You suck! SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

    And your little cat, too!

…do I get to go up on 4chan yet?

  • Rikaishi

    Heck yeah! Kittens!

    Because every day is Caturday.

Hi. I’m from pharyngula. I’m glad you guys are continuing to write. I hope you didn’t take any comments I made there as a personal judgement. I think the most important thing is that we just don’t really know each other (the groups I mean, not personally… that would be kind of creepy) so it’s easy to make an inaccurate judgement. I’m interested to see what you guys write in order to see if I can absorb some knowledge, but I probably won’t comment much as I’m not a scientist or even a student any longer and most likely have nothing much to add but a stat hit.

Anyway, good to see you guys not taking it all too seriously and hope you stop by the other blog some times too.

What a pity, evil people tend to generally be the more interesting, though distraction by kitty might be a good way to hide evilness.

  • Kaessa

Personally, as someone who owns (is owned by?) four cats, I find your posting of an adorable kitten as distraction to be pure evil. Clever, too.

  • Qwerty

I dunno. That kitty looks like it’s ready to pounce.

  • DaveG

You put a photo of a merciless carnivore poised to strike at its prey (we readers) and you don’t think we’re a little bit concerned for our safety?

  • tideliar

Fucking LOL. nice one, you get 1 internet dollar for a having the necessary GSOH to pwn the interchoobs

  • John Phillips, FCD

Stop the evil man’s kitty looking at me mummy.

  • John Morales

Kittens are immature amoral killers that enjoy playing with their prey.

    The very personification of evil.

    <here, kitty kitty!>

Um…I have know idea WHAT this blog is about or what exactly I’m doing here…but i think I just might go have a look and try and figure it out now. That kitty is awful cute!

  • OurSally

Now then, Rev. You can get away with perceived misdemeanours (whether real or not) by distracting us with a picture of a cute furry animal because (we believe) you are young and bouncy. It is the equivalent of a rascally grin on a schoolkid who just apologised for denting your car. You can do that just once. Now get responsible… and always read and reflect before you press “post”.

Don’t forget, everything you write on the interthingy is forever.

  • Joan

Ok, there’s a cute kitten photo that’s irresistible, some sort of a&*hole-like comments annoying some folks..but I’m still lost. Pharyngulite…WTF? You people have no idea how much I WANT this to connect in my mind. Are you some sort of biology lab soap opera thing? Really, wishing the best – Joan
